1. What is ICN?
International Club Network (ICN) is the largest alliance of independent private, public and resort clubs in the world, with more than 300 clubs in 17 countries. About 70 percent of member facilities are golf related. ICN operates two programs, Privileged Play, for daily fee golfers, and International Club Network, for members of private clubs.
2. How long has ICN been in business?
International Club Network (ICN) was organized in 1998 at the invitation of the Club Managers Association of America. The origins of ICN stem from the difficulty many private clubs face in responding to their members’ desire to visit other private clubs while maintaining the unique environment of their own club.
Privileged Play, ICN’s daily fee golf program, was launched in March 2004 and is the first program of its kind in Canada. Privileged Play provides club membership to the public player at first class facilities in their local area and throughout North America. In addition to providing exceptional savings at quality golf courses, PrivPlay allows the daily fee golfer to enjoy the private club experience without the cost.
3. What is Privileged Play?
Privileged Play is a golf membership program that allows the daily fee golfer to save at exceptional golf courses, and experience the services, events, and opportunities that were previously only available to members of private clubs. As a Privileged Play Member, you can enjoy the same benefits as a private club member - a sense of community, special opportunities, and the ability to book tee times in advance - for a fraction of the cost of a private golf club membership. There are currently 2 levels of Privileged Play membership: Privileged Play and Privileged Play Silver.
4. What are the benefits of Privileged Play?
Privileged Play provides savings and other benefits at a growing number of premier daily fee golf facilities across North America.
Benefits include:
- Lots of great courses in your local area and across the country - check out our course list
- NEW! 2-for-1 pricing on PrivPlay Days - 4 times per year at each Canadian course! When one green fee is purchased at the regular posted rate for the date and time of play, the PrivPlay member’s round is free. Click here for full details on this new benefit
- 20% savings on regular posted green and cart fees during prime season at PrivPlay courses across Canada and the U.S. (discount cannot be combined with another discount, coupon or special offer, including early and late season incentive pricing at many courses)
- Advance tee time booking privileges - up to 3 days ahead of the general public
- Member tournaments and events
- Game tracking, travel offers and other member-only opportunities
5. What is Privileged Play Premium?
As of Monday, November 5, 2012, Privileged Play Premium will be referred to as “Privileged Play”. Moving forward, Privileged Play Premium members will be referred to as Privileged Play members. Click here for full details on Privileged Play.
6. What is Privileged Play Silver?
Privileged Play Silver members receive similar benefits to Privileged Play members, except their 20% discount on green and cart fees can be used anytime during the week but only after 11:00 am on weekends and holidays. They also have access to 2-for-1 pricing on PrivPlay Days.
7. How many golf courses does Privileged Play have? Which courses are involved?
Members of the Privileged Play program enjoy savings and benefits at more than 200 exceptional courses and facilities across Canada and the U.S. – click here to see the course list. As the course list changes from time to time, always check our list of courses before you book your round.
8. What are PrivPlay Days?
New for 2013! PrivPlay members now enjoy 2-for-1 pricing on PrivPlay Days - On these days, (4 times per year at each Canadian course!) when the guest of a PrivPlay member purchases a green fee at the regular posted rate for the date and time of play, the PrivPlay member’s round is free. Click here for full details on PrivPlay Days.
9. What are priority or advance tee time booking privileges?
One of the benefits PrivPlay provides is advance tee time booking privileges at our partner golf courses. This means that you are able to book tee times for yourself and your guests up to three (3) days ahead of the general public. If a participating facility has a booking window of 10 days, it means that you are able to reserve a tee time up to 13 days in advance. Please note that the PrivPlay advance booking privilege may be fewer than 3 days for courses that offer priority booking advantages with their annual memberships.
10. When am I eligible to receive 20% savings on green fees and carts?
The 20% discount applies to tee times that are any time during the day, any day of the week on all regular posted rates during prime season. This includes weekday, weekend, primetime and twilight rates, provided the course is not running a special. Please note that the discount cannot be combined with another discount, coupon or special rate being offered by the course, which at many courses will include early and late season incentive pricing.
11. How do I get my 20% discount and what are the restrictions on when I can use it?
Here’s a quick checklist that takes you from soup to nuts on getting your PrivPlay discount.
- Take a look at the PrivPlay course list and choose a course to play. (Our course list is always changing, so be sure to check the list before you book your round – there may be a new gem on there you’ve wanted to try!)
- Make sure the course is not discounting their rates or running a special. (The PrivPlay discount cannot be combined with another discount, coupon or special offer, including already discounted early and late season rates).
- Call the pro shop and book your tee time. Be sure to let them know you are a PrivPlay member. (If you are a PrivPlay Silver member, please remember that you can use your PrivPlay discount anytime on weekdays and after 11:00 am on weekends and holidays).
- Remember to bring your PrivPlay membership card and corresponding photo ID every time you visit a participating course. The PrivPlay 20% discount is only applicable for the cardholder, so if you’re playing with another PrivPlay member, make sure they have their card with them too.
- Present your PrivPlay card and photo ID to the pro shop staff when you check in and they will provide you with your discount when you pay for your round.
- Enjoy your round!
Please note: If you are interested in playing courses in California operated by JC Resorts, or PGA National in Florida, these courses require that PrivPlay make the reservations for you. Just give us a call at 1-800-903-4268 and we’ll take care of the booking and secure your savings for you.
12. I have another coupon. May I combine it with my 20% savings?
No, the PrivPlay 20% savings is not available in conjunction with any other discount, voucher, coupon, or special offer.
13. Do my friends get 20% off when they golf with me?
The Privileged Play 20% savings only applies to members of the program, not their guests.
14. How do I book my tee time?
- Please feel free to call the golf facility directly. Facility phone numbers can be found on our website www.PrivPlay.com under “Courses and Experiences”.
- When reserving your tee time, please identify yourself as a Privileged Play member.
- When you arrive at the pro shop, please present your Privileged Play membership card and photo identification.
- Please call ICN if, in the unlikely event, you have a problem in organizing your visit – we would be pleased to help you. Click here for our contact info and business hours.
Please note: If you are interested in playing courses in California operated by JC Resorts, or PGA National in Florida, these courses require that PrivPlay make the reservation for you. Please call us at 1-800-903-4268 and we would be happy to assist you.
15. What do I need to do when I arrive at the pro shop?
When you arrive at the pro shop, please present your valid Privileged Play membership card and photo identification.
16. What is the cost of the program?
The regular price of the Privileged Play program for first-time members is $275 + HST – this includes a one-time initiation fee of $150 and annual dues of $125. With 2-for-1 pricing on PrivPlay Days and 20% off the other times you play, the membership pays for itself in no time. Please sign up for our e-newsletter or call 1-800-903-4268 to find out about special promotions we run for events and holidays.
17. What if I am not a great golfer?
The Privileged Play membership is ideal for you!
- We offer our Members a range of courses, many of which provide several tee deck options to suit both the novice and experienced golfer.
- Our online game tracker allows members to seek game improvement by entering their scores, obtaining a handicap online, setting goals and tracking every stat you can imagine.
18. Does the 20% off apply to Seniors' Rates?
No. The Privileged Play membership gives golfers the benefit of discounts off regularly posted green and cart fees during prime season at great courses across Canada. Our courses are prepared to offer our members this incentive as a way to build loyalty at their course. It is the natural approach of a course to use discounts to attract various patrons, like they do with seniors. In the courses’ view, giving a discount on seniors' rates is really giving a discount on an already discounted rate and they are not prepared to do that.
19. What if I have not yet received my Privileged Play Welcome Kit?
You should receive your Welcome Kit very soon, depending on when you signed up. Our orders are fulfilled on a weekly basis. To be on the safe side, you should expect to receive the kit in the mail within two weeks of purchase. If you would like to play one of our courses before your membership card arrives, we will call the course on your behalf to confirm that you are a member and request that they grant your 20% discount, even though you will not yet have your card with you.
Please note: If you are an existing member who has renewed early, your renewal membership package is set to be sent out 45 days before your existing membership expires. If you require your renewal package in advance of that, please call us at 1-800-903-4268 and we will force the system to produce your package sooner.
20. 2013 Changes to PrivPlay - What does this mean for current members?
As of Monday, November 5, 2012, the Privileged Play Premium membership will no longer include the generic Privileged Play Complimentary Green Fee Pass (2-for-1). Active members may still use their already-issued Complimentary Green Fee Passes – the passes can be used any time on weekdays and after 11:00 am on weekends and holidays. All memberships sold on or after November 5, 2012 will be issued under the NEW Privileged Play Program.
If you still have a valid Complimentary Green Fee Pass (2-for-1), here are the details on how to use it:
- The 2-for-1 certificate is perforated to the bottom of the welcome letter that you received with your PrivPlay Premium membership card.
- The 2-for-1 certificates are valid for one year from the date of membership sign-up and have their expiry date printed on them. Be sure to check the expiry date of your certificate and ensure you use it before it expires.
- Please notify the Privileged Play facility in advance when you intend to use your 2-for-1.
- Please bring the 2-for-1 certificate with you when you go to the course for your round. You must have the physical certificate in hand and present it to the course in order to use this benefit.
- The PrivPlay 2-for-1 can be redeemed for a free round of golf with cart only when a companion round is purchased at the regular price for use at the same tee time, anytime on weekdays or after 11:00 am on weekends and holidays. Participating courses are not obligated to accept the 2-for-1 on already discounted early or late season rates. We understand that it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of golf season and mistakenly plan to use your 2-for-1 first thing on a Saturday morning. However, we ask that you continue to be respectful of the difficulties facing courses today and not expect them to accept your pass if you have accidentally booked your round outside of the relevant time.
Please note that the 2-for-1 is not valid at any of the JC Resorts courses located in California or at the PGA National Golf Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
As of November 5, 2012, the generic 2-for-1s are no longer a benefit of the PrivPlay program and are being replaced with PrivPlay 2-for-1 Days. We regret that lost or stolen existing 2-for-1 certificates cannot be replaced.
If you are an active PrivPlay Silver member, your benefits will remain the same until your card expires. During this transition period you'll continue to save 20% on regular green and cart fees anytime during the week and after 11:00 am on weekends and holidays during prime season, PLUS you'll have access to PrivPlay Days.
21. Are PrivPlay Days available at U.S. courses?
No, for the time being PrivPlay Days are only available at participating Canadian PrivPlay courses. However, you will still receive your 20% discount at U.S. courses when you show your membership card.
