Ackergill Tower dates from 1476 and enjoys a history as rich as the countryside in which it sits. The Castle overlooks the the Skerries lighthouse guarding the entrance to the Pentland Firth. Completely restored in 1988.
Situated in the beautiful Scottish Borders, on the east coast between Berwick and Edinburgh, lies one of Scotland's most interesting family homes. Robert Adam's final masterpiece stands dramatically on a cliff top looking across the sea to the mountains of Arran. There are lots of attractions in the area, including the fortified town of Berwick-on-Tweed, Holy Island, and some stunning beaches. Berwickshire is a county full of beautiful homes, many of which are open to the public.

Just 30 minutes from Edinburgh, Gilmerton House, is a splendid Adam mansion set in old parkland. The present house dates from 1750 and has a noble facade, magnificent rooms, rich period fittings and fine furniture. Today, it is the home of the 13th Baronet, Sir David and Lady Kinloch.
Just 30 minutes from Edinburgh, Harburn prides itself on not being a hotel, a factor that guests particularly appreciate. There are no dining room times to be adhered to and, above all, no one else you have to share it with. Harburn has excellent cuisine, eight bedrooms all with private bathrooms and there are a further sixteen bedrooms in other cottages on the estate. 80 minutes from Edinburgh, and 60 minutes from Newcastle, Harwood House is a truly charming country house lying in the heart of a 3,500 acre private estate, secured by the surrounding hills and a two mile driveway. Kincardine is very much a family home, where guests enjoy the personal hospitality of the owners, Andrew and Nicola Bradford.
Owned by Viscount Reidhaven, the Strathspey Estate is situated in the heart of the Highlands and offers some of the best sport in Scotland. Some 30 miles south of Inverness and Loch Ness, the estate covers an area of 22,500 hectares, stretching from the banks of the magnificent River Spey through farm land to ancient Caledonian pine forests and heather grouse moors.

Mountquhanie House graces a 2,000-acre country estate near St Andrews. It is the home of Andrew and Felicity Wedderburn, whose forebears have lived here and worked the estate for the past four centuries. Although built in 1820 in the classic Georgian style, it offers 21st century comfort, along with peace and privacy.
